The Borno Central Senatorial seat became vacant in June shortly after the re-elected Senator Amed Zanna died after a protracted illness.
The long motorcade that received Garbai at Maiduguri International Airport drove round major parts of Maiduguri the state capital before terminating at APC party office with a promise to ensure effective representation if elected.

The senatorial Candidate who is unanimously backed by all stake holders within the governing APC in Borno state will have to slug it out with other contenders during the by – election slated for October 17, 2015.
