Rivers State Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, has reportedly shifted 12 big bags locally known as Ghana-must-go suspected to have been stuffed full with raw cash. The total amount, however, could not be established by multiple Airport sources which spoke to The Neighbourhood on Friday. Our sources could not also confirm whether the suspected currency was in local currency or foreign denominations. Most top officials of Government in Nigeria prefer to transact their business in foreign currency.
A chartered private jet marked JET M-ARSL as Registration No. with 9 passengers on board, reportedly departed Port Harcourt International Airport, Omagwa, earlier today, according to Airport sources.
Two well-known aides of the Rivers State Governor from Abua and Opobo, respectively, Airport sources said, were also part of the flight and seemed to have been in-charge of tipping corrupt Airport officials and other agencies at the airport. The Neighbourhood could not confirm names of the other passengers on board.
The Rivers State Governorship Election Petition Tribunal will commence pre-trial hearing in the matter filed by Dr. Dakuku Adol Peterside, governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress, APC, in the April 11, 2015 governorship election next Monday, July 6. Peterside is contesting the conduct of the election and declaration of Wike as winner by the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC.
Governor Ezebuwon Nyesom Wike had challenged the jurisdiction of the Tribunal, arguing that it could not hear an election matter in the Federal Capital Territory when the polls were conducted in Rivers State.
The APC in Rivers State had accused Wike of borrowimg N30billion in 30 days of his regime to fund personal appetites. The Neighbourhood was unable to speak with Opunabo Christian Inko-Tariah, the Governor’s Special Adviser on Media annd Publicity, to confirm what could have been the contents in the 12 bags.
