Soldiers in Delta State are yet to comply with the order of President Muhammadu Buhari to vacate all check points in the country.

The 3-Battalion soldiers in Effurun, Warri Barracks of the Nigerian Army are still visible at major checkpoints in Warri, the business city of the oil rich Delta State.

The military, besides remaining at the check points, are now punishing commercial motorcycle riders popularly called Okada riders who fail to obey their instructions.

247ureports who went round Warri and Effurun metropolis, reports that the checkpoints were yet to be dismantled.

A legal practitioner and rights activist, Ogedegbe Omemiroro termed it as a welcome development, while some commercial okada riders expressed  security concern over the order.

Meanwhile,  an Okada  rider  who  was  arrested by  soldiers at a checkpoint  on Tuesday morning for an undisclosed   offence, was   seen undergoing punishment by cutting weeds around one of the military checkpoints in Warri.

The Okada rider who gave his name as Monday, told 247ureports that the order was quite commendable as it would relieve them of the intimidation and perpetual extortion they have been going through in the hands of the soldiers.

He, however, expressed concern over security implications of the order as removing them on one hand, would make men of the underworld to return to the streets.
