The State Chairmen of All Progressives Congress, APC, have disassociated the state chapters of the party from the letter written by the National Chairman, Chief John Oyegun on the nomination of principal officers of the National Assembly to the Senate President, Bukola Saraki and Speaker Yakubu Dogara on Tuesday.
The forum of state chairmen said the letter is a product of poor consultation and failed to reflect geo-political spread in the allocation of principal offices.
The forum of state chairmen did not endorse the position of the NWC on the recent leadership tussle in the NASS.
There were three (3) cardinal issues that we resolved .
We affirmed the obvious fact that the party is supreme as contained in our party constitution.
We resolved that in carrying out this supreme duty, the party leadership must not see their supremacy as an alternative to equity and justice or a licence to impunity.
That in carrying out this supreme function, the principle of federal character and geo political spread must be taken into consideration in the allocation of principal offices.
Finally, we also resolved that no communique should be issued but that our stand should be communicated to the Chairman of the National Caucus.
Singed:
APC Chairman, Plateau State
On behalf of APC State Chairmen.
