
The disappearance of N500,000 donated by governor Umaru Tanko Al-Makura for the burial of Mail Express correspondent, David Terhemba Dzomon continues to generates controversy among executives of the Nigeria Union of Journalist and the Correspondent Chapel.
247ureports.com gathered that the information on the stealing of the burial fund became public when some of the involved parties were sidelined in the sharing of the booty. Some executives of the correspondent chapel and other key players in the state council were sidelined.
It was revealed that the zonal secretary of the union representing zone D, Wilson Bako and his accomplice dipped their hands into the money. They decided that only N230,000 out of the N500,000 would be remitted to the bereaved family since the desist did not have a wife nor a child.
N150,000 was presented to family at Tse-Dzomon,Mbagwaza by delegation from the NUJ – and an additional N80,000 was paid into the account of a junior brother – bringing the amount to N230,000.
The family of the deceased indicated the casket was worth N100,000 – and it was gotten through donations by in-laws – while the program of the burial was shouldered by Akperan Hangeior,a cousin to late David Dzomon.
The national secretary zone D, Wilson Bako has denied taking the money.
