The Special Anti Track Team of the Anambra State Vigilante Services in Okija, Ihiala Local Government Area of Anambra State has between January and June this year rescued not fewer than ten (10) kidnapped people.
Also, a storey building, two bungalows were identified as the den of the kidnappers by the4 group, who then brought it to the fore of the state government even as properties have been demolished by the authorities concerned.
The coordinator of the Okija Vigilante Group, Chief Uju Nnolue disclosed this yesterday at the 2nd Synod and fund raising service for the New Pentecost University, Okija.
Chief Nnolue while speaking told the congregation that the Anambra State government has flushed out all criminals in the area including their hideout, stating hitherto that before, the men of the underworld had turned Okija as their operational base even as he urged the Church to pray for the Government of the State to sustain the tempo of the security situation now in the state .
Appealing to the members of the public to always volunteer useful information to the vigilante group, the local security boss said such information would always be treated with utmost regard and confident.
Chief Nnolu told the Anglican congregation of Nnewi Anglican diocese at St Peter Church Ubahu Okija venue of the service that adequate security network have also been put in place through the instrumentality of Governor Willie Obiano and other philanthropists in the town.
He said the arrested criminals have since been handed over to the Anambra State Police Command for prosecution including former Director of Operation Okija Vigilante Services (name withheld) who aided suspected child trafficker now at large.
