The civil servants in the north eastern State of Bauchi may be undergoing undue pain owing to the nonpayment of salaries for over three months by the Yuguda administration. Information made available to 247ureports.com indicates the Governor of Bauchi State, Malam Isa Yuguda may have worsened the pains of the already aggrieved government workers through his refusal to remit the owed salaries – while simultaneously remitting millions of naria to the Bauchi State lawmakers and to the contractors in the State.
As gathered, the Governor in a final move to appease political cronies and followers within the legislative arm, proceeded to release N5million to each member of the State Assembly – while select members [8 of them] where given N18million each. The selected members who received N18million were said to be members who were close to the governor and who aided the governor in many of his ‘runnings’ within the state government. A member of the Bauchi State assembly confirmed the receipt of payments to 247ureports.com.
The Governor is reported to have remitted monies owed to all contractors in the State. The sum is placed at about N1.52billion. The majority of the monies paid out were reportedly to his political cronies – posing as contractors. The monies were release in the second week of May 2015.
The government workers of Bauchi State who had since downed their tools and headed for an indefinite strike are said to be bitter over Isa Yuguda’s insensitivity towards the civil servants in Bauchi. Presently, some of the workers have resolved to their fate that the salaries may never be paid.
