The last may have not been heard of the shocking defeat of the Peoples Democratic Party [PDP] by the All Progressive Congress [APC]. This is as credible information available to 247ureports.com obtained from firsthand sources indicate that the national chairman of the PDP, Alhaji Muazu may have just two weeks to go as the chairman of the party before he is either sacked or forced to resign.
The information available to our correspondent indicates that following a stakeholders meeting of the PDP held Wednesday April 29, 2015 – with the president of the federal republic of Nigeria in attendance – and the entire PDP governor’s in attendance – the national chairman of the party in attendance – saw sparks of fire aided at Adamu Muazu. The meeting, according to our source was convened to help pave a way forward for the PDP against the 2019 general elections.
The PDP governor were quick to pounce on the national chairman – immediately the meeting started. First to pounce on the national chairman was the governor of Ekiti state, Fayose – who made it clear to the chairman that he expected the chairman to have come with his resignation letter to the meeting. Muazu was visibly shaken as he listened to Fayose. “He was shaking. Everybody saw it“. Other PDP governors aired their discontent with the national chairman. Some of the governor called the national chairman, a mole of the APC. They unanimously demanded that he submit his resignation no later than two weeks of face – a vote of no confidence by the national executive committee.
In addition, the stakeholders called for the complete dissolution of the national working committee. Each of the serving member of the working committee was asked to submit their resignation letter to the political godfather that brought them into he position. A deadline of less than two weeks was given for all of the members. Any of the members who are found to be resisting to submit the resignation letter will be face with a vote of no confidence – which will be followed by ejection out of the position.
Concerning the new leadership of the party, the stakeholders requested for President Jonathan to take up the leadership position. But the President was quick to turn down the offer citing that “he was part of the problem” that he “is contented with being an ordinary member“. The president expressed that it would be wiser to tap on new faces who were not part of the failure scored by the PDP recently. Our source noted that the President is eager to achieve the refurbishing of the PDP before he steps down from office.
Meanwhile a source close to the national chairman revealed that the national chairman may not be willing to submit the resignation letter as demanded by the PDP. “He does not want to resign. He wants to stay on as the chairman till 2019 when he would transition into a presidential candidate“. In Muazu’s calculation, with the exit of Jonathan, it would be virtually impossible to remove him from the seat of chairman – and it would be even more difficult to stop him from collecting the PDP ticket for the presidential elections 2019.
Presently, Muazu serves as the chairman of PenCom – a position which he was appointed by President Jonathan. Our source indicates that the incoming APC administration has agreed to allow the PDP chairman to continue to serve as the chairman of PenCom – while he serves as the chairman of PDP.
