Speaking at a reception organized in his honour by a chieftain of the All Progressive Grand Alliance, APGA, in Imo State, Okey Eze in Owerri after he was honoured by the Abia State University last weekend, Onu assured that he would discharge his duties in a way he would be a source of pride to the people of South East and Nigeria at large.
He added that just like the positions he had occupied in the past, he would ensure he used any position given to him to lift Nigeria’s image.
The APC leader assured that Buhari’s administration would work to save Nigeria from its present economic woes, adding that the South East had nothing to worry about in the APC government as according to him, the incoming government would work in the best interest of Nigerians.
He stated that Buhari would work for justice so that Nigerians would be proud of Nigeria. “So, I’m convinced that Buhari would take Nigeria to the height all of us will be proud of”.
Onu charged Nigerians to join hands together to ensure the country was lifted from its current challenges to a place they all wanted it to be.
While thanking the people for the honour done him, Onu thanked the Abia State University University for giving him honourary doctorate degree.
Earlier, Okey Eze said Onu is one those few Nigerians that deserved to be honoured because he is a modest man and rare breed of nigerians, he had over the years shied away from honour, an act he said made him even more deserving of honours.
Eze described him as a role model, beacon of hope and an embodiment of all that many hold dear.
