From Gyang Pam, Yola
Adamawa State former Deputy Governor Alhaji Sa;ad MC Tahir who
represented the outgone Governor James Bala Nggilari was nearly mobbed
by angry youths at the venue of today’s inauguration of Senator Umaru
Jibrilla Bindow at the Mahmud Ribadu Square Yola.
The incident took place shortly after he had officially handed over
the documents of office to the incoming Governor Senator Bindow.
Immediately he started descending from the podium, the mob began
stoning him with shoes and sachets of pure water but he has the
security personnel to thank them for rescuing him.
As if this is not enough, Senator Bello Tukur who represented Senator
David Mark and whose tenure just elapsed was not only booed but had
his clothes torn and his jeep smashed with the youths expressing their
displeasure at what they said his dismal performances at the senate.
However, when matters settled down as a result of the intervention of
political bigwigs, the new Governor, Senator Jibrilla in his speech
shortly after being sworn in assured the people of his plans to tackle
insecurity in the state after meeting with security chiefs.
He solicited for support and cooperation of the people adding that he
plans to alleviate the sufferings of all the internally displaced
persons and resettling them.
Barrister Nggilari in his speech read by Alhaji Tahir acknowledged the
celebration as well deserved.
The former Governor acknowledged the suffering inflicted on millions
of the people of the state.
Nggilari urged the new government to implement decision handed over to
it for the success of the state.
He then commended Bindow for what he said was his well deserved victory.
However, it will be recalled that the outgone Governor lost his
attempt to stop the inauguration of Senator Bindow ad his Deputy
Engineer Martin Babale in a case he said never allowed him to complete
his tenure at an Abuja High Court yesterday May 28th, 2015 as the
court dismissed the case.
The Governor then opted to stay put at Abuja as he was nowhere to be
seen in Adamawa state while people had wanted to embarrass him for
what they say, were his many failures.
The ceremony wish a great turn out of people who filled the Ribadu
square to the brim.
