The Police Command in Imo State on Thursday announced the discovery of a bomb factory at Umuokirika Ekwereazu in Ahiazu Mbaise Local Government Area of the state.
The Command’s spokesman for the state, Mr. Andrew Enwerem, who confirmed this while briefing newsmen in Owerri, said two suspects workers in the factory were arrested during the operation.
It would be recalled that the state police command had in the last two years discovered Improvised Explosive Devices, IEDs in four different locations within the state capital.
According to the police boss, operatives of the Imo State police command burst the syndicate responsible for the fabrication of the IEDs, in the state.
He stated that the suspects were arrested at Umuokirika Ekwereazu where they fabricated the bombs.
The suspects, Enwerem disclosed, were the break-away members of the Movement for the Survival of the Sovereign State of Biafra, MASSOB and the include Love Davidson of Nguru in Aboh Mbaise LGA and Charles Eze from Nsukka in Enugu State, while one Ekeobi who is the leader of the syndicate was at large.
He stated that efforts were being intensified to apprehend him.
Items recovered from them include, drilling machine, gun powder, tins of paint, thread, buckets and borex used as shrapnel.
The police spokesman said that the items had been certified by explosive experts to be components of IEDs.
While assuring the people of the state of their security, he said the suspects would be charged to court after investigation for acts of terrorism.
