Chief Osita Orji, the President General of Ugwuagba-Obosi Community, Idemili North Local Government Area, Emeka Ambrose Eze, Chinenye Iloegbunam and three others suspected to be brothers-in-crime at the time of filing this report are said to be undergoing interrogations in the office of the Assistant Inspector General of Police in charge of Zone 9 Umuahia, Abia State, Usman A. Gwali for allegedly working against the ethics of Vigilance laws of Anambra State.
According to a petition from the office of Joseph .O. Tagbo Esq, addressed to the Assistant Inspector General of Police, the legal luminary on the brief of one Friday Joseph, alleged that the duos in 2005, Emeka Ambrose Eze, the Commander of Ugwuagba Vigilance Group allegedly invaded Club 25 with gun during a Christian night vigil organized by Pastor Authentic where Mr. Eze and with his gang, robbed the Christian faithful of all the offerings and tithes and collected handsets of those in attendance.
Parts of the petition reads thus: “In 2006, Emeka Ambrose Eze went and robbed at Iweka Road Market, one of his gang members was shot and killed, while the said Emeka Ambrose Eze and another of his gang member, Bosah Mba were arrested. Emeka was later released notwithstanding that he was apprehended with gun, while Bosah Mba was taken to court and has been in awaiting trial custody at Onitsha Federal Prisons.
“In 2008, the said Emeka Ambrose Eze and one of his brothers, Sunday Eze went on armed robbery operation upon which his brother, Sunday Eze was shot on the leg. The said Sunday Eze was killed in another armed robbery operation while Emeka escaped.
“In 2010, the said Emeka Ambrose Eze with four other members of his gang was arrested by Special Anti-Robbery Squad, SARS, Enugu though I do not know the detail of the offence.
“In 2011, he offered a lady a lift in his motorcycle, only to divert the lady with his motorcycle to bushy place where he robbed the lady and attempted to rape her under gun point but luckily to the lady, she escaped. The matter was reported at Awada Police division of which Cpl Uche Bekee was the IPO. The matter did not proceed further as Awada, having been compromised stood on the matter.” The petition alleged.
It was gathered that the compliant, Mr. Friday Joseph who is the Assistant Commander to the embattled Emeka Ambrose Eze had on January 4, 2015, while in the office, called Mr. Joseph aside with two other persons unknown to the Assistant Commander, having allegedly introduced those unknown persons as Emeka’s friends, and thereafter ordered the petitioner to ensure that he withdraws all the security men along Owerri Road around ITC Motor Park in the night, stating that these his friends will be there to wait for a lorry with goods that will pass through in the night, probably for diversion.
“Our client then quarried Emeka Ambrose Eze whether those his friends are the owners of the goods lorry? He became angry and agitated and quarried our client his business with the lorry, as the altercation between our client and Emeka was going on, one Chinenye Iloegbunam alias Otondo, jumped up, cocked his Pump Action gun and aimed the gun at our client to shoot him for refusing to carry the order of Emeka Ambrose Eze.
“Following the ugly development, our client sought the intervention of Ugwuagba President General, Chief Osita Orji alias Cardinal or Onwa who after hearing our client, ordered him to resign if he cannot work the way Commander, Emeka Ambrose Eze want, that after all, our client is from Ebonyi State, questioning his right to direct them on how they should work in Anambra State that he should go back to Ebonyi State. The PG also said he has seen our client as someone who cannot keep secret.” The Counsel stated.
Urging the AIG to investigate the complain of Mr. Joseph with a view to bringing these culprits to book if found wanting, Barr Tagbo said this will serve as a deterrent to others who may decide to engage in crime, using vigilance services in tormenting members of the public with Pump Action gun.
