Soldiers have shoot the vehicles of the Spokesman of the Northern Elders Forum Professor Ango Abdullahi NEF vehicles on his way to a meeting in Tirwun Village in Bauchi Local Government Area of Bauchi State along Maiduguri road Federal Highway.
In a Telephone interview with Daily Trust Correspondent today Professor Abdullahi who is the Chairman Governing Council of Bauchi State University Gadau said “I wake up in the morning around eight o’clock we have a meeting in the State University Gadau after we passed Awalah round on our way to Gadau we reached Tirwun Village we saw a convoy of some soldiers they were driving slowly our driver maneuvered and.overtake them we just hard sounds of gunshots, seven ,eight bullets hits our car and demobilised our vehicles we managed to stop but we thank Allah the bullets didn’t hit anyone of us inside the vehicle”
Professor Abdullahi said ” after we stop the soldiers came out shouting that we shouldn’t over taken them , because they are escorting sensitive materials I have never seen a reckless action like this in my life”
He said he informed the State Commissioner of Higher Education Alhaji Ibrahim Aminu Mohammed who reached out to other Security agencies and the army.
Professor Abdullahi said The Army sent a captain who visited him and apologized he promised that the Brigade commander will make a report to army Headquarters in order to know the unit where the soldiers come from, because they didn’t inform them that they will pass through Bauchi.
An aide to Abdullahi said the bullets damaged the engine of the vehicle it destroyed the radiator.
He said only Allah save us if not one of the bullet came directly to near the professor leg but With God intervention it didn’t touch him.
In his reaction the State Commissioner of Higher of Education Ibrahim Aminu Mohammed said they were happy with the quick response of the State Service Chiefs that included Director SSS , Brigade Commander and the State Commissioner of Police who visited the scene immediately after they were informed,
Commissioner said the Brigade Commander has ordered for the arrest of the soldiers and he had informed the Defense Headquarters immediately.
Reliable Security Sources in Bauchi confirmed the incident and explained that they have commenced investigation over the incident.
