Information reaching 247ureports.com indicates that the attack by the dreaded Islamic Jihadist group the boko Haram, on the capital city of Maduguri, has suffered defeat in the hands of the Nigerian military. According to available information, the Nigerian military had routed the ragtag forces of the Jihadist group away from the capital city of Maiduguri to about 40kilometers away to a town called Masa. This is as at 1pm Sunday afternoon.
During the battle that ensued as the Jihadist group attacked Maiduguri in the early morning hours of Sunday, 500 members of Boko Haram died while 15 civilians lost their lives. Another 36 civilians suffered injuries. This is according to official figures from the military.
In a related development, a suicide bomber is reported to have denoted a bomb in Potiskum. The bomb explosion occurred at about 1pm in front of the home of a prominent and wealthy politician – Alhaji Sabo Garbu. Alhaji Garbu is a PDP candidate for the house of representatives. 8 people were reported dead.
