A Kaduna base journalist, Samuel Aruwan has been appointed spokesman of Malam Nasir El-Rufai campaign organization.
El-rufai is the gubernatorial candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kaduna State.
In a statement issued in Kaduna, El-rufai named Samuel Aruwan, Bureau Chief of Blueprint Newspapers Limited as substantive spokesman of his campaign organisation.
Aruwan’s appointment is coming after El-Rufai clinched APC gubernatorial ticket on 5th December, 2014 after defeating his close rival Hon. Isa Mohammed Ashiru.
Aruwan according to the statement is a hard-working and disciplined journalist and well connected within the diverse and dynamic segments of Kaduna state and Northern Nigeria.
A member of Nigerian Union of Journalists (NUJ) and Africa Regional Media Hub in South Africa, Aruwan’s appointment is with immediate effect.
“While anticipating your acceptance, I believe you will bring your wealth of experience to enrich efforts of the team, El-Rufai said in the letter of appointment.
Aruwan, a graduate of Mass Communication with certificate in African Investigative Journalism from School of Journalism, University of Witwatersrand, South Africa has accepted the offer.
Asides working as a Research Assistant to many scholars and organisations, Aruwan started formal media practice in LEADERSHIP Newspapers Group as a Reporter and rose to Bureau Chief of its Kaduna Bureau in 2008 before he resigned in October 2011 and joined Blueprint Newspapers Limited.
Aruwan has been active in civil society and participating in several parleys related to deepening democracy, conflict resolution, and critical public commentaries.
He has participated in several training and conferences in Europe, Asia and Africa. He was among Nigerian journalists that recently participated in research training on Religious and Ethnic Extremism in London, United Kingdom.
Aruwan who was born on 10 May, 1982 in Tudun Wada, Kaduna, hails from Kabala West, Ungwan Mua’zu District of Kaduna South local government area of Kaduna State.
Similarly, the management of Blueprint Newspapers Limited has since granted Aruwan leave of absence and wish him success in his new endeavor.
