From Gyang Pam, Yola
Some residents of Lugda Village in Maiha Local Government area of
Adamawa State were on Sunday thrown into great mourning following the
death of one person and several others injured following a bomb
explosion.
Reports from the area gathered by 247ureports.com has it that the victims were warming themselves
by the side of a fire due to the harmattan weather
when one of them saw a polythene bag and picked it and
threw it on the fire for more warmth.
But no sooner had the polythene bag caught fire when an improvised
explosive device (IED) blew up killing one and injuring several
others.
The injured were taken to the Federal Medical Centre Yola the
state capital for treatment.
The incident took place at about 6:30am on Sunday January 4.
Police spokesman DSP Othman Abubakar who confirmed the story, said it
happened as a result of ignorance of the victims who must have acted
without knowledge of the contents in the polythene bag.
He then charged members of the public to be extra vigilant especially
when handling anything that appears strange to them.
