All Progressives Congress (APC), Anambra State Chapter calls on the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to clearly warn Mrs. Uche Ekwunife and Mrs. Stella Oduah to stay out of the Senatorial contests in Anambra Central and Anambra North Senatorial Districts because there cannot be more than one candidate from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
This warning has become necessary because APC sees part of its responsibility in the polity as the protections of the rights of citizens.-in the case the right of voters in these Anambra State constituencies not to be confused on who is the candidate.
The APC therefore does not foresee a situation where it would be forced to stop these illegal candidates, because those whose responsibility to do so have failed the nation.
We also insist that the warning should come from INEC because it is the electoral umpire which ought to be neutral.
Besides there is an implied power in the Electoral Act which INEC has not claimed. Anyone who can prequalify, collate and publish the names of competing candidates for purposes of participation in an election can equally deliver a warning who blatantly refuse to pay attention or respect the published names.
In the case of Stella Oduah, she is actually playing jingles on airwaves controlled by the Nigerian .
Broadcasting Corporation, and we are tempted to ask if, suddenly the regulatory body for broadcasting has lost its power of monitoring recall that Mr. Tony Nwoye
We also wonder aloud, whether INEC has engaged NBC in an intra-governmental discussion to rid the nation of this bare-faced illegality which can be cited as precedence.
We recall with amazement that INEC called Mr. Tony Nwoye to order, stopped him from campaigning or playing his jingles during the gubernatorial race in November 13, 2013 because the name of another candidate Mr. Nicholas Ukachukwu had been published for his party.
We think that this should happen again in protection of the Anambra State Electorate.
To conclude we wonder why this would always happen in an indisciplined party which populates an indsciplined governments where they have formed same in Nigeria, and trust that in the spirit of the wind of change now blowing across the nation, Anambra State voters should vote out the PDP, to avoid ambiguities in their choice, particularly when it has come to the fore that the idea of fielding many candidates is a well-rehearsed, albeit dubious, strategy by PDP to cheat in the electoral contest.
