Not lesser than 80,000  birds, 100,000 bags of rice and cash gift were distributed to the people of Ekiti State between Thursday and yesterday under the stomach infrastructure progamme  of Governor Ayodele Fayose.

According to a press statement by the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Mr Idowu Adelusi, issued in Ado Ekiti yesterday,  people of the State who continued to besiege the Governor’s office in their large numbers as well as those who had theirs delivered to them at their domain were amazed at the milk of kindness of the Governor, saying it has been long such has occurred in the State.

Some of the elderly who could not hide their joy at the rear opportunity of having to celebrate the season with the package poured torrents of prayers on the man they referred to as supporter of a common man.

As early as 10 in the morning, the Governor alongside several members of staff had started distributing the package to the people who kept appearing in their multitudes.

Some of the beneficiaries, including Mr Jewoola from Ado-Ekiti, Mr Ife Akinyeye and Mrs Afolabi Mary noted that the gesture has again reaffirmed the governor as a graasroots man to the core.

They appreciated the governor for putting himself in the shoes of the common man who may find it difficult to prepare sumptous meal to his family at this period of festivity.

Others, Mr Joseph Aneke, Mr Olowookere Joseph and Mrs Rachael Abayomi said the governor Ayo Fayose will go down in history as the only governor so far with a genuine welfare package for the people, saying his type of leader was very rear.

The Governor later moved to the market places with same package for those who could not be available in the Governor’s office with a promise that all the 16 Local Governments are having designated centres for the distribution.

In a chat with journalists, the governor stated that what takes priority in his heart daily is the welfare of the people of the state who against all odds returned him to office after 8 years in a landslide victory.

He noted that he will continue to pursue his welfare programme with all his strength as he could not withstand the people of the state suffering.

According to him, the current financial situation will not deter him from reaching to the people of the state because had made a covenant with God to  ensure that the people are liberated from the shackles of poverty.
When asked why he gave them money, the Governor said, ” they need to buy pepper, salt, maggi,palm oil etc to cook the chicken.”
Among the beneficiary of the exercise were the widows, aged, pensioners, traders and artisans.
The exercise which began last Thursday  will be on till the Christmas Day, adding that the teachers will take their turn on Monday.

The Governor wished people of the state a joyous celebration with a promise that next year will be far better than this year.
