Information available to 247ureports.com indicates that there are renewed fears amongst the populace that previously liberated towns from the ugly grips of the Boko Haram insurgents may soon witness another round of fierce religious fighting.
According to the available information, the fears stem from the recelt developments arising from after the Nigerian troops overran Michika and Madagali. Residents tell our Correspondent that some unknown persons have taken over their homes – after the soldier left – under the guise of a religious group – threatening them not to return to their homes.
A woman of the Islamic faith said her parents had to flee Michika because of alleged threats on them by some Christian youths who accused them of playing a role in the killings of Christians by the Boko Haram sect. But the allegation was faulted by a resident of the community. Amos Moses, a Christian from the same town said that contrary to the allegation, the Moslem youths actually played a role in the killing of Christians in Michika, “they even carted away their property“. He continued, “the Moslems have an upper hand for now because of the protection they get from Boko Haram”.
Nonetheless, it is understood that for now, the military are no longer leaving any stone un-turned to ensure that residents live in peace with each other and to bury whatever religious differences that may exist.
In a related development, the boko haram terrorist were reported to kill more residents of the community following failure to recruit the residents into the terrorist organization. The youths of the community had rejected the offer to join the organization – in turn – they were killed.
Military authorities refused to comment on the issue owing to instructions from Abuja.
