Jigawa State Governor, Sule Lamido has reportedly angered the National Association of Nigerian Students [NANS], who are prepared to wage war with him over his alleged support for a 45-year-old non-student, Tijjani Usman, who is parading himself as NANS president.

The legitimate President of NANS, Comrade Ali Wali, who was duly elected by Nigerian students to represent them reported that Governor Sule Lamido was using Tijjani Usman to work against the transformation agenda of President Goodluck Jonathan by turning Nigerian students against him.

He said Governor Lamido’s grand plan was to ensure that President Jonathan no longer enjoys the tremendous support of the students, by mobilising student protests against government policies and programmes, especially in the education sector, thereby, damaging the President’s popularity and credibility.

Comrade Wali said it was unfortunate that Governor Sule Lamido was using religion and tribe to pursue his 2019 presidential ambition, saying such act was unexpected of a leader who professed patriotism and commitment to the growth and development of the country.

“Tijjani Usman is a 45-year-old non-student who is not a registered student of any tertiary institution in Nigeria. NANS has discovered that Jigawa State Governor Sule Lamido and his cohorts are sponsoring him to cause division among Nigerian students, especially students from the North.

“They are using religion and tribe to cause crisis in the students union. As enlightened youths of Nigeria, we will not fold our arms and allow that to happen. They will not succeed in their evil plan; not while we are still at helm of the students body.

“As NANS President, I call on all our students across the country to rise up against the likes of Governor Lamido, who have obviously declared themselves enemies of the state, and do not want the development and progress of our dear country. We will remain united against such forces of destruction,” Comrade Wali said.
