Imo Deputy Governor, Prince Eze Madumere has called on Nigerian youths to jettison any acts that could call their integrity to question.
Sorry, there are no polls available at the moment.Addressing the youth of Mbaitoli-Ikeduru Federal Constituency of Imo State who paid a visit on him last weekend, he hammered on the need for those who are supposed to be leaders of tomorrow to conduct themselves in such a manner that will give hope to Nigerians. He decried the dearth of hard work, innovativeness and creativity to the preference of inordinate ambition for quick money no matter the means.
Continuing, he said the situation in the country calls for sober reflection as those at the helm of affairs have failed Nigerians. He averred that if the youth are also enmeshed in the same culture of corruption and impunity with less interest in their integrity, he concluded that Nigeria’s future as a country will remain bleak.
He however told his story of commitment to service in whatever he is commissioned to handle. He said such commitments bring about confidence and trust. “It is baffling that we seek opportunities and when such opportunity comes handy, we squander it by pursuing our selfish gains rather than utilizing such to prove one’s leadership qualities. We forget easily that one good turn deserves another.”
The African personality of the year said leadership is not all about winning election, being in position of power or achieving ambition and aspiration but delivering on those things that bring about positive change whether in character or in development thereby motivating them to both individual greatness and the greatness of the country at large.
He also used the forum to appeal to the youths to shun violence and say no to political thuggery and other vices. He admonished them against yielding themselves as willing tools in the hands of desperate politicians. He however told them that they have every right to vote any candidate of their choice and stand to defend their votes against electoral thieves.
Meanwhile the leadership of Youths of Mbaitoli and Ikeduru local Governments said they visited the deputy governor of Imo State in solidarity and to commend him on his leadership qualities. They young men and women who took turns to speak praised Madumere’s life of humility, loyalty and commitment to ensuring that Rescue Mission Administration led by Owelle Rochas Okorocha succeeds.
Hon. Emma Duru, Special Assistant to the Governor on Youth Affairs showered encomium on Prince Madumere for his exemplary leadership and his great support in humility and loyalty to the Governor. He therefore declared that they will want him to continue with the governor saying the duo have become a model for which other States of the federation could learn from.
In the same vein, Rev. Fr. Casmir Nze showered encomium on Prince Madumere especially on his conduct which presents him as a role model to the youth. He assured him of the support of the people of Mbaitoli and Ikedure Local Governments for having proven he can be relied upon.
The last Speaker was Prince Marcon Nlemigbo, former Chairman of peoples Democratic Party, Imo State Chapter. He told the youth to emulate Prince Eze Madumere for his humility, loyalty and good conduct.
Prince Nlemigbo also described Governor Okorocha as a great leader who has in no little measure shown what it means to be a leader by his achievement in Imo State in less than four years in office. He also commended him for the cordial relationship that exists between him and his deputy. He therefore called on the youth leaders to give their total support to Governor Okorocha and his deputy, Prince Eze Madumere.
