An explosion in northeast Yobe village has killed at least six commuters in car, a commercial driver said
A suspected Boko Haram bomber with explosive devices, boarded a commercial Volkswagen Golf Car from Fika, a small community in northeast Yobe to Potiskum, Yobe restive city, the source disclosed.
The car however ran into another coming vehicle at Maiduwa village in Fika Local Government area, forcing the bomber to prematurely detonated the explosive devices. “Six people including the bomber and other passengers in the car died instantly,” Isa Lawan, another driver disclosed.
He said the incident occurred about five kilometres from the point where the driver took off.
An official of the National Union Road Transport Workers (NURTW) who preferred anonymity said the incident occurred at about 1pm. He said only the driver and one teenager survived the blast, describing their survival as miraculous though with injuries.
He disclosed that the injured persons are now receiving treatment at the Fika General Hospital.
