Ahead of the February 2015 general elections, youths of the All Progressives Grand Alliance, APGA, have vowed to resist every attempt by the opposition parties to use some individuals in the party to derail the party’s plan to win the governorship, national and state assemblies elections.
In a statement signed by the APGA National Youth Leader, Comrade Ikechukwu Chukwunyere, and made available to newsmen in Owerri the youths said the barrage of court cases to either stop the party from participating in the forthcoming election or stop the process of producing candidates for the election did not come as a surprise to “us even when the processes leading to the emergence of candidates for the different elective positions have been free, fair, transparent and credible”.
The statement noted that the High Court just a few days ago, reinstated Chief Victor Umeh  as the National Chairman of APGA after realizing that “these usurpers never meant well for the party”, adding that APGA, under Umeh, had brought tremendous development to the party in the past few years.
The statement reads in part: “We want to send a note of warning to all these political jobbers and never-do-wells that their days are numbered in APGA. Never again will APGA Youth tolerate any plan to derail us. We will resist them within the ambit of the law and ensure that such miscreants are flushed out”.
It averred that the enemies of the party were stoking the crisis in APGA because they understood that their days in office were numbered and that APGA was the party to beat.
While assuring that the party would win more states in the coming elections, the statement lamented that a critical assessment of the achievements in Imo State, Abia State and other states in the past three and a half years had shown little or no presence of government, poor and sub standard roads, no health care services, unpaid salaries to civil servants, debts accruing from unpaid loan borrowed from banks for frivolities or selfish gains etc.
The statement expressed happiness over the caliber and credibility of the candidates that had so far emerged from the party’s various primary elections, saying APGA youths were now very vigilant as the days of rigging were over.
It implored all members of the party to remain calm and focused, assuring that APGA understood their pains and sufferings.
“We will replicate all the wonderful developments strides by Chief Willie Obiano, the Executive Governor of Anambra State in Imo State, Abia State and other States and wipe away their tears”.
