BY ABUCHI IFESINACHI, AWKA
Chief Godson Chukwuma Ezenagu, a former commissioner for AgricultureĀ and Rural DevelopmentĀ in Anambra State has won the APGA Federal House ticket in Awka North and South with total of 56 votes Mr. Uche Onyilofor came second with 20 votes while the incumbent member Hon. Chukwuemeke Nwogbo came a distant third with 16 votes.
In a release, signed by the Returning Officer, Dr. Onyekachi Ibezim said Hon. Godson Ezenagu polled 56 votes and had therefore by the count of votes emerged winner of the election subject to ratification by NEC of the party.
Reacting to his victory the ex Commissioner promised to bring about positive development in Awka North and South local governments of the state.
The chieftain of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) who is contesting to represent the Awka North and South Federal constituency on the platform of the party attributed the ugly situation of the two council areas to poor representation in the past even as he vowed to remedy the situation.
He said that the constituency which also accommodates the seat of government did not have the basic infrastructure which could have been there if the representatives at the National Assembly from there made judicious use of their constituency allowance.
Ezenagu who described the conduct of the primary election as successful, promised purposeful representation aimed at giving the people what was due to them in accordance to the good intentions of the federal government.
He reiterated the support of APGA for President Goodluck Jonathan, saying the alliance would give APGA leverage in getting fair share of what was due to them at the federal level.
‘The problem in this constituency of Awka North and South is that my people have been shortchanged, in the past our representatives collect the peoplesā money from the government in their millions and they do not use it for the wellbeing or benefit of the people.
‘Our roads are bad, Awba, Amanuke, Isuanocha all these places cannot be accessed because of bad roads and it is a shame that our vehicles get trapped on these roads.
‘In Anambra almost everywhere have developed but Awka North and South is still underdeveloped because of bad representations, more so a capital city.
‘I want to go to the House of Representatives and make a difference, roads, job creation, water, electricity, and youth and women empowerment will all be attracted to my constituency .
‘I will work with the federal and state government to get these these things done; I have been there before as a commissioner for agriculture and my people were happy with my performance.
The primary election here as you can see is successful, free, fair and peaceful, I am impressed with the massive turnout of party faithful here and the solidarity shown by Mgbakwu people, ‘Ezenagu said.
