The intrigues surrounding the upcoming 2015 presidential polls appears to have many folds as it continues to exhibit new levels of conspiracy. Information available to 247ureports.com obtained from sources near the secretariat of All Progressive Congress [APC] in Abuja indicates that all may not be well with the APC team of godfathers.
As gathered, two of the supposed founding ‘fathers’ of the party – Alhaji Bola Tinubu and General Mohammadu Buhari – are said to have fallen into a cold war with each over the control of the party. Bola Tinubu is said to have brought six state governor into the APC union while Mohammadu Buhari brought one state into Union – the All Nigeria Peoples Party [ANPP] brought the remainder. In reaction to the brewing cold war, Alhaji Bola Tinubu has begun coiling away from the Buhari led faction of the APC. Tinubu is said to have begun clipping the wings of Buhari and his influences within the party.
Loading ...Tinubu’s effort to render Buhari’s influence within the party useless has led Tinubu to strange doorstep. According to our source, Tinubu was not readily comfortable with Alhaji Abubakar Atiku as the possible flag bearer for the APC owing to the previous show of distrust and disloyalty by Atiku to the then Action Congress in 2007/2008. Tinubu is said to be turned off by the arrogance and boisterous exigencies of the Kano Governor, Malam Rabiu Kwankwaso. Tinubu, for this reason, could not throw his support towards Malam Kwankwaso.
It was to this effect that Tinubu tapped on the Speaker of the National House of Representative, Malam Tambuwal as his choice for fly the APC presidential banner. Sources close to the Speaker of the House of Representative revealed to 247ureports.com that Tambuwal’s defection to the APC was largely through the urging of Bola Tinubu who promised him his 100% support to fly the presidential banner.
In Tunubu’s calculation, Tambuwal has the best of chances of tackling the candidacy of President Jonathan to the ground on election day in 2015. To this end, the group of followers behind Tinubu have begun mobilizing efforts behind the likely presidential run of Tambuwal. This is as is torn between contesting for the gubernatorial elections in Sokoto and the Presidential elections.
