… As Lawmakers pledge Accelerated Attention On Budget Implementation

Governor Willie Obiano of Anambra State has presented a bill for a law to provide for the sum of N 164,496,442,500.00 for the services of the state for the year 2015 and for other related purposes.
Presenting the executive bill yesterday at the legislative chambers Awka, Governor Obiano said that his administration has ensured efficient implementation of the 2014 budget tagged ” Budget For Family and Wealth Creation”. The Governor said the 2014 budget marked the beginning of his plans to implement the strategic initiatives contained in his blueprint for the state.
He said that currently his administration has recorded a budget implementation of approximately 46% as at October, 2014 and further expressed optimism that his administration shall end the year with at least a 50% budget implementation.
According to the Governor, the state government has also commenced the implementation of his administration’s strategic economic blueprint which he said hinged on trade and commerce, industrialization and oil & gas.
On the other hand, House Committee Chairman on Public Petitions and Conflict Resolutions Hon. Ebele Obi said the 2015 budget estimate was fair stressing that in the past budget performance in Anambra State was nothing to write home about as past administrations used the media to paint a picture of budget implementation without empirical evidence.
Lending his voice to the discussions on the 2015 budget estimate tagged ‘ Budget For Wealth Creation and Social Cohesion’ , Hon. john Olibie representing Dunukofia Constituency believed that Anambrarians would benefit immensely from the 2015 budget adding that the lawmakers have pledged to give the budget accelerated attention and support to ensure prompt implementation of the budget.
He said the House would identify areas of amendment when the ministries, departments and agencies of government defend their budgets.
Meanwhile Speak of the Anambra State House of Assembly Rt. Hon. princess Chinwe Nwaebili assured the Governor of the support of the State Assembly towards budget implementation subject to discussions on the budget estimate.
