Boko Haram Steals Food Items, Kill Farmers

Boko Haram has attacked Azaya community in Jere LGA of Borno stare, killing 44 people and catered away nine pick-up vans loaded with bags of rice.

An eye witness, Idriss Ahmed, who escaped the attacks unhurt told 247ureports.com today in Zabarmari community a close-by area from the scene, that Boko Haram stormed their village on Tuesday by 1:15pm shooting sporadically.

“I was then at Azaya’s market when Boko Haram came to the town, they all were on motorcycles; they were more than 50, everyone of them was carrying a gun.

“They firstly asked us to stay away from our commodity, and minutes later they said we should lie-face down during which they uploaded available nine Isuzu pick-up vehicles in the market with bags of rice.

“That day was the market day of Azaya. So, thousands of food items bags were brought to the market for sales.

The eye witness, Idriss Ahmed, 38, added that: “Thereafter, they asked us to rise up and sit down. Then, they asked vehicles owners to surrender their keys which they did instantly.

“At this point, a leader among them, who commands, ordered some of them to abandon their motorcycles and drive away the vehicles loads of bags of rice to leave.

“And Immediately the vehicles zoomed off, they asked that those who are from Azaya and Zabarmari communities respectively, should be separately side by side. Though, most of us were from Zabarmari but we then claimed that we were from Azaya.

“They even assured that they won’t hurt any of us. But we couldn’t feel comfortable with what they told us. They then asked the market leader to stand up, come forwards.

“And when he stood up pretending to walk forwards, he turned and ran away which made all to run despite gunfire. When we returned a day after met 44 corpses.
