Anambra: FRSC Bursts Fake Driver’s License Racketeering Syndicate

Following a tip off, operatives of the Federal Road Safety Corps, Onitsha Unit Command, yesterday, smashed a driver’s license racketeering syndicate.

The kingpin and director of the suspected criminal syndicate, Mrs. Ngozi B. Onwuzulike, was nabbed along with one of her staff members, Miss Chinenye Ugwu, who said she is a marketing staff of the company, Mega Web Investment  Limited, based  in Onitsha, Anambra State.

Confessing to the crime, Mrs. Onwuzuluike, a self-acclaimed product of Imo State University, said she acted in ignorance, insinuating that she thought the product was genuine.

Curdling a-four-month-old baby, Mrs. Onwuzuluike who said she is a mother of three, claimed that she went into the business out of frustration resulting from joblessness after graduation.

Her employee and accomplice in the alleged crime, Miss Chinenye Ugwu, who said she is from Nsukka in Enugu State, claimed she was employed two months ago, and that within the period, they have only issued out about fifteen plates of the questionable driver’s license and vehicle papers  to their unsuspecting clients.

Parading the suspects at the Unit Command Office premises at Onitsha, the Unit Commander, Assistant Corps Commander, Mr. Emeka Metta, said the reports from his Intelligence Unit operatives, reveal that almost all the traders at Bridgehead Drug Market, Onitsha have fallen prey to the whims and caprices of the alleged fake driver’s license and vehicle papers racketeering syndicate.

The Unit Commander therefore, warned the Nigerian public to be cautious and desist from cutting corners, stressing that shortcuts most times, lead to danger and disappointment.

Items recovered from the suspects include, suspected fake driver’s license plastic plates, vehicle papers, complimentary cards and a sales book.

Handing the suspects over to officers of the Department of State Services, DSS, Anambra State Command, who were invited by the FRSC Onitsha Unit Commander, and who responded promptly, the suspects were taken away for further interrogation and investigation.
