The Presbyterian Church of Nigeria has honoured the Governor of Imo State, Owelle Rochas Okorocha with the award of ‘Leadership per Excellence’, in recognition of his purposeful governance in the State as well as the humanitarian services provided through the Rochas Foundation.

Presenting the award at Aladimma, Owerri parish of the church, the Minister-in Charge, Rev. Sunday Ole acknowledged that Imo state has witnessed remarkable and unprecedented social and infrastructural development within the three years of the Rescue Mission government.

Rev. Ole further commended the governor for the humanitarian services provided through the Rochas Foundation which he said has indeed given hope to numerous children of the less privileged.

The cleric also lauded the free education programmed introduced by Governor Okorocha which cut across primary, secondary and tertiary levels and prayed that God should grant Owelle Okorocha an opportunity for a greater responsibility to contribute to the growth and development of the nation.

Delivering the citation of Governor Okorocha, Dr Obasi Oko aptly described him as a great philanthropist, teacher, educationalist per excellence, an orator, an apostle for peace, a detribalized Nigerian and an apostle of transformational leadership, who, given his wealth of experience, is qualified for the highest political office in the country.

Responding, Governor Rochas Okorocha thanked the Presbyterian Church for finding him worthy of the award and dedicated the award to the masses of Imo State and the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) who he said never shifted ground on ensuring transparent election during the 2011 governorship election in the State.

Governor Okorocha who pledged to continue to promote the well-being of the masses as well as invest in building a place for the worship of God, urged Christians to remain strong in the faith and pray for those in authority.

The Imo State Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC), Prof Selina Oko was also honoured with the award of ‘Ambassador of Christ (AC)’ for her dedicated, transparent, focused and uncompromising Christian life.
