Available information indicates that the Jihadist group may have begun exhibiting signs of desperation in their latest attacks in Southern Borno on Thursday September 25, 2014. The Islamic group who were escaping from the Nigerian military attacks, attacked two communities [Shaffa and Shindiffu] inside Hawul local government area slaughtering 20 persons, including a pastor named Eliud Gwamna Mshelizza – who was the head of Living Faith Church located in Marama. A teacher was also slaughtered.
“They burnt houses and all the churches in Shindiffu including our schools. The killed and raped our women“, wailed Amos Buba a displaced resident of the community as he explained that the Jihadist group invaded the two communities of Shaffa and Shindiffu at minutes to 8pm on Wednesday. The attacked lasted till 11am on Thursday – 15hours later. He continued “the terrorists razed down about 10 among which were churches E.Y.N -1, E.Y.N-2 and E.Y.N -3 churches in Shaffa and Shindiffu villages. Majority of the attacked houses and persons were Christians. They also burnt down Government Girls Secondary School, Shaffa, the clinic, the staff quarters and many houses“.
The murdered Pastor Eliud Gwamna Mshelizza brother, Mr. Ibrahim Gwamna Mshelizza confirmed to 247ureports.com that his younger brother was slain in the hands of the Jihadist group.
Meanwhile, the Nigerian security forces were not caught napping. The quick actions of the Nigerian troops led to the abortion of the Jihadists plan to invade another Christian community in Southern Borno. The Nigerian troops stopped the Jihadist ragtag team from entering the town of Turaki. About a dozen of the Jihadist group were said to have been killed during the exchange.
“Our men from Adamawa and Biu axis repelled the attacks on Shaffa, Shindiffu and Turaku village, over 100 of the terrorists were killed while several arms and ammunition were recovered in the encounter“, said a top military boss stationed in Borno concerning the recent failed attack by Boko Haram.
