Rabiu Omaku Doma’s piece, posted in social media, did not come as a surprise. In fact, it has been long awaited for two (2) reasons:
i. The role of Hon. Kwarra in defusing and repelling the ill-conceived, ill-motivated and failed impeachment attempt by the Horrible members of the Nasarawa State Legislooters; and

ii. Secondly, the members are still nursing the injuries and pain inflicted on them by the heavy punches of Hon. Kwarra during the period of the impeachment saga.

The objective of Omaki’s write-up is to portray Hon. Kwarra as a man of questionable character and to smear his public image. It is only the likes of Omaku, his cohorts and sponsors that will attach any value to his article. But for rational thinking minds, the article amounts to distraction and diversion from the core issues, which is the impeachment, its motives and what they intended to achieve at the end of the exercise. Therefore, it is not out of place that Omaku has chosen to attack the personality of Hon. Kwarra rather than his ideas and to focus on the main issues.

For the avoidance of doubt, and to put the records straight in order not to confuse the gullible public, Hon. Kwarra has never, ever been convicted by any Court of Law in the country on grounds of the so-called allegation of certificate forgery. And if anybody claims to have such facts, I challenge him to make public his facts. Omaku himself asserted that Hon. Kwarra is freely moving about in the street of Wamba and Lafia. What he did not add is that Hon. Kwarra equally contested the 2011 Governorship election of Nasarawa State under the platform of ANPP. The significance of this information is that convicts are not constitutionally allowed to contest elections nor be appointed into public office. It is for that reason that Hon. Kwarra is proudly the Senior Special Assistant (Public Affairs) to Governor Al-makura.

Now, let’s discuss the issues that informed the futile impeachment attempt by the twenty (20) PDP Horrible Legislooters of the Nasarawa State House of Assembly, which their vendor (Omaku) is trying to divert public attention by focusing his attacks on Hon. Kwarra. The reasons are as follows:

i. Selfish interest and high quest for looting and milking the State treasury at the expense of the majority of the people of Nasarawa State. They did not want the Governor to conduct Local Government elections, rather preferred Management Committees with the composition of its members at the ratio of 7:6 of the thirteen (13) Local Government Councils in the State. In addition to gratification of Five Hundred Million Naira (N500,000,000.00) before the confirmation of appointment of the appointees. Gov. Al-makura out-rightly rejected their proposal and opted for Local Government elections. This can be justified from the one (1) year tenure of elected Council members in the electoral law of the State.

It was a matter of political strategy towards securing their seats come 2015 in order to continue to perpetuate their looting spree on the peoples’ treasury. They knew with democratic structures on ground, their faith come 2015 is as good as being decided. Therefore, to impeach the Governor and re-launch the PDP in Government House, Shendam Road, Lafia, was a matter of political survival and strategy. More so that the-would-be beneficiary of the impeachment, Hon. Damishi Barau Luka, had promised them the first month statutory allocation of the State valued at over N3 billion, in addition to making one of them Deputy Governor and guarantying their Tazarce in 2015.

ii. Secondly, the members, so much enjoyed public resources, as well as high appetite for money and spending, that ensuring its sustenance is a matter of life and death. Let me buttress this point. It is on record that since the inception of Al-makura’s led Administration, the State House of Assembly alone received over N7 billion for just 24 members, at the expense of the generality of the people of the State. A member of the Assembly makes an average of N100 million annually and the breakdown is as follows:

i. Monthly release to the
Assembly – N109 million

ii. Legitimate salaries/
allowances of members,
staff salaries and overhead
cost of the Assembly – N21 million

iii. Balance being shared by
24 members – N88 million

iv. A member takes average of
N4 million monthly x 12
months – N48 million

v. Constituency services
N10 million per member,
quarterly x 4 – N40 million

vi. Other unsolicited funds
before bills are passed and
foreign trips at an average
of N10 million per member
quarterly – N40 million

They even obtained First Bank loan of N300 million, shared among themselves with a monthly repayment of N27 million from public funds.

These are the issues people expect the likes of Rabiu Omaki Doma to write on, educate the public, put pressure on these bunch of thieves in order to arrest the situation and stop the stealing.

On integrity, the members do not have any moral justification to syndicate ‘empty stomach writers’ to execute such task for them. It is an undisputable fact, that this is the only crop of legislooters that not less than 3 of its members are presently facing trial on various criminal offences in Magistrate Courts in the State. Besides, all of them are under investigation by the EFCC to account for all the moneys they have looted. I challenge Rabiu Omaku Doma or any of the members to deny this fact.

In the case of Baba Ibaku, the sponsor of the article, it is in the public realm that he comes from a family that has a history of psychiatric disease. His mother died as a madwoman, his senior brother presently wondering about in the village of Udege as a madman and watching Ibaku closely while he speaks, looks a sadist, obsessed and depicts a person with symptom of mental illness.

Again, members themselves, acknowledged Hon. Kwarra’s intellectual prowess at least on legislative practice and procedure, hence they engaged him as their teacher and consultant. Rabiu Omaku Doma should ask the members, if they forgot his forgery status before engaging his services and benefiting from his wealth of experience. In fact, Rabiu Omaku Doma should praise and commend Hon. Kwarra as a mentor to the members of the Assembly.

Further, Omaku asserted that, Hon. Kwarra should go on exile in order to escape the Assembly’s axe. Those who go on exile are those that have skeleton in their cupboard, like the members who have just returned from self exile, busy trying to redeem their faces from public shame, how to reintegrate, reconcile with the people and constituencies.

Whether you like Governor Al-makura or not, he has his footprint in the annals of history, as a consequence of his verifiable and landmark achievements in the area of physical infrastructural development and service delivery in the State. This feat, endeared him to the people of the State, and remains the subject of envy and jealousy by the PDP.

Lastly, Hon. Kwarra will continue to be remembered for his resourcefulness, contribution to the legislative development in Nasarawa State and frontal role in the management of the impeachment saga of Governor Al-makura. Whereas Baba Ibaku shall always be remembered for his stupidity, lack of eloquence in public speech and intellectual deficiency.
