President Goodluck Jonathan has expressed his readiness to actualize a peaceful and more united Nigeria where unemployment would be a thing of past and future of youths in the country would also be guaranteed through provision of democratic dividends to the people.

Jonathan made this commitment in Enugu while delivering his address at the 11th General Synod of the church of Nigeria, Anglican Communion taking place at the Cathedral Church of the Good Shepard, Enugu.

The president who was represented by the Minister of Power, Professor Chinedu Nebo however admitted that Nigeria was facing challenges; according to him, Moral Decay and Natural disasters would continue to happen but assured that they were building a Nigeria where insurgency and other social vices must be curtailed.

Also he expressed satisfaction over the prayers of the Church that had continued to give support to the government, saying their faith in God remained unshakeable.
Primate of the Church of Nigeria, Anglican Communion, Most Revd. Okoh, who is also the Bishop and Archbishop of Abuja insisted that God has good plan for Nigeria but warned that collaboration with enemies from outside could destroy the country.

“If those who win are magnanimous in victory; if those who lose are good democrats, patriotic, sportsmen and women, and statesmen all will be well. If however the winners are greedy, brutal, repressive and triumphal; if the losers on the other hand are disgruntled, treacherous and unyielding, then we will by our own hands cause a total eclipse of the sun in our country.

“God has good plan for our country. But we in collaboration with enemies from outside can destroy the country. We need Nigeria;  we need peace. The youth must not yield themselves as instruments of destruction to any political party. Parents must prevail on their children and wards to stay away from the theatre of political turmoil and refuse to be bribed or paid to die, or to kill. We must all work together to ensure that the prediction that in 2015, Nigeria will cease to exist, comes to nothing” he stated.

We call upon the whole country, politicians, business people, service personnel, all security agents to rise up as one man and defeat this evil; it is in our common interest” he added.

Commenting of the dreaded Ebola Virus Disease, he said it was difficult to know what exactly was in the mind of Mr Sawyer of Liberia when, knowing full  well that he was a carrier of the deadly infections pestilence, embarked on a journey to Nigeria.
