Anambra state government has reiterated its resolve to fight crime to the barest minimum and make the state safe for investment to thrive in.
Speaking while handing over the three refurbished Armored Personnel Carriers to the member of the Nigerian Police force, the executive governor of the state, Chief Willie Obiano promised to do all within its power to fight insecurity in the state.
He said his resolve to get the state mob-up from criminal activities is second to none and would make sure he makes Anambra state the safest place for investment to thrive.
The Governor also disclosed that about twenty armored personnel carriers will be distributed to all the notable areas in the state.
His word, “” We are making sure our police here have the best equipment to be able to effectively continue doing the marvelous work they are already doing here in the state “”.
“” I am happy to present this first set of presentation with three refurbished armored personnel carriers , the second batch will come, and at the end of the day, they will be twenty pieces that will be deployed all over the state“”.
Responding, the outgoing commissioner of police and newly promoted Assistant Inspector General of Police in charge of Zone 9, Umuahia, Mr. Usman Gwary, extolled the governor on his sincere effort to rib the state of all criminal activities, assured him that his men would be able to fully utilize the equipment to the realization of the governor’s desire.
He promised to support the governor and passed on the collective working relationship they have been enjoying with the governor to his successor, in the bid to collectively tackle insecurity in the state and by extension in the zone where he has now been appointed as the zonal commander.
“”I want to state here that, some of the equipment have been dilapidated, rusting away, but with the coming of his excellency, he graciously agreed to fix them, and they have been fixed as if they are just newly bought””.
‘’This will in no doubt assist us tremendously, by the time we will deploy them, we will obviously deploy them to area we will consider to be most suitable” AIG said.
He further stressed that”” For now, we will utilize effectively the three armored vehicles till His Excellency would be able to provide the additional seventeen more armored carriers he earlier promised to make it up to twenty””.
On his part, the chairman, Anambra state house of assembly committee on security, Honourable Victor Okoye lauded the state government effort to make Anambra state safe for every one to leave and assured the state house of assembly resolve to always support him, because a safe and crime free environment is the envy of all.
