Public and Private schools across Ekiti State on Monday remained shut, against the resumption date announced by the Federal Government.
The Federal Government had announced Monday, Sept. 22 as resumption date for schools across the country.
The exercise in five local governments, namely: Ado-Ekiti, Oye, Ekiti West, Ijero and Efon reports that schools visited were under lock and key.
Schools monitored in the affected areas included both the government and private schools.
The situation was compounded by the strike declared by teachers in Federal Government Colleges.
The strike had affected resumption at the Federal Government Colleges in Ikole-Ekiti, Efon-Alaaye-Ekiti and Usi-Ekiti.
Ekiti State Commissioner for Education, Mr Kehinde Ojo confirmed the development in an interview.
He said that the state government would soon come up with definite date of resumption as it has embarked on measures to curb the Ebola Virus Disease.
The step, he said would make teachers rescind their decision not to resume for classes.
He enjoined parents not to be apprehensive about the development, saying that the efforts were in the best interest of their children.
The state government had last week declared that schools in Ekiti would not resume until safety measures were put in place by the state government.
