The battle of words between the Nigerian armed forces and the Boko Haram Jihadist group appears unending and confusing to the unbiased spectator. Information available to 247ureports.com through competent sources near the theater of activity in Maiduguri indicates that the residents of Bama remain apprehensive to going back to their homes. One in particular is the leader of the people of Bama, Shehu of Bama, he remains trapped in Bama.

Yesterday [Wednesday, September 10, 2014], the Shehu of Bama arrived the displaced persons camp in Maiduguri to address his people. In the address the Shehu assured his people of eventual victory through the efforts of the Nigerian military forces โ€“ as he pleaded for steadfast patience and prayers. He added that at the present, the town of Bama remains under the firm grip of the Jihadist group. โ€œNo one goes to or comes out of Bamaโ€.

The Shehuโ€™s candid revelations to his people comes against what the Defense headquarters have claimed recently regarding the battle for Bama. The Defense Headquarters had claimed to have defeated the Boko Haram ragtag team, and had retaken the town two days ago. And that fighting was over.

In taking with an intelligence agent who is conversant with the operations in Bama, he indicated that the military personnel on the ground in Bama are being economical with the real situation. โ€œMy brother, the military are saying a lot of things that confuse the public and even the governmentโ€. He added that independent investigation show that Nigeria troops are not holding positions. A large segment of the troops have abandoned their positions โ€“ and have gone into hiding, while others have refused to engage the Jihadist group.

Meanwhile, Bama remains a no go area.
