Australian Negotiator, Stephen Davis, had recently fingered Ihejirika, and former Governor of Borno state, Modu Sheriff as Sponsors of the Islamic sect, Boko Haram in Nigeria.
While addressing Journalists in his office in Enugu, Nwoye, insisted that because of the weighty and sensitive nature of the allegation, there is urgent need for it to be properly investigated.

In his words: “there is need for proper independent investigation into this serious issue, because it has to do with a sect that has been wasting scores of innocent human lives in the country”
“Boko Haram is a serious security issue in Nigeria, and that is why it should not be politicised or turn into APC and PDP affair, especially as it involves unlawful taking of human lives” Nwoye maintained
The APC chieftain, who is also a human rights lawyer, further stressed that the independent inquiry into the allegation against the ex- army chief, became necessary, so as to enable him clear his name if found not guilty in the end.
Dr. Nwoye, however, advised Igbos to stop weeping unnecessary ethnic sentiment on the matter, saying after all, the law allows for proper investigation into such weighty allegation.
He also picked holes on the hasty manner the Department for Security Services DSS absolved Ihejirika, on the allegation, stressing that the security outfit ought to have allowed thorough investigation before giving anybody a clean bill of health.
“it would be wrong to wave the allegation off just because some persons in the corridors of power may not feel comfortable with such allegation coming from a respectable authority such as Davis.
“Ihejirika and Sheriff should clear themselves of the allegation if they insist it is not true by submitting themselves to independent investigation.
Nwoye maintained that Davis is not a Nigerian Politician, adding that it was shameful that the federal government is now denying knowledge of Davis activities “even when the Department for State Service, DSS, was aware that Davis was around for the negotiation.
He also stated that Davis should be investigated to find out if his allegations were made out of malice.
“It is wrong for the federal government to take sides on this issue, Boko Haram is not an issue to be tossed around with, its about human life, those accused should be concerned and submit themselves to investigation.”
