A man identified as Mr. Moses Uzoma has drowned while excavating sand at the Imo River which serves as a boundary between Abia State and Rivers State.
Though the account of what caused his drowning is still sketchy as at the time of filing this report, sources said Uzoma’s corpse, was however found floating on the river two days after he died.
A source said that the body of the victim who hails from Omoba in IsialaNgwa South LGA was later buried at the bank of the river in the presence of his family.
When contacted, Abia State Commissioner of Police, Ibrahim Adamu said he was yet to be informed of the incident.
247ureports.com gathered that a 20 year old man identified as Ugonna Ike in June was drowned in the same River while excavating sand.
The deceased, a native of Uratta in Isiala Ngwa North LGA was said to have gone with one Osinachi Okezie to excavate sand before he was drowned in the river as every effort made to rescue him failed.
