Commend the Police for successful conduct of Osun Election
The Acting Inspector-General of Police, IGP Suleiman Abba NPM, mni today, August 12, 2014 at the Force Headquarters, Abuja received two high ranking diplomats – the Deputy Chief of Mission, US Embassy, Abuja, Mr. Francis John Bray and His Excellency, Ambassador of United Arab Emirate, Mr. Mahmud Mohammad. Both of them congratulated the IGP on his new appointment and wished him a successful tenure.
The IGP, while addressing the US Diplomat noted that he is very mindful of the very long existing mutually beneficial relationship between the Nigeria Police and US Embassy and promised to sustain this relationship. He thanked the US Embassy for its invaluable support to the Force especially for those US-sponsored courses on capacity building and development, leadership, terrorism and counter-insurgency as well as for previous donations of state-of-the-art equipment. He also thanked the US Embassy for the involvement of the FBI detectives in investigating terrorism-related crimes which undoubtedly have contributed to some of the successes recorded so far in this area.
Responding, Mr. John Bray expressed his hope that the partnership between the Nigeria Police Force and the US Embassy on matters of law enforcement will continue to blossom under the leadership of the new IGP. While congratulating the Force on its excellent outing at the just concluded Osun Gubernatorial election, he specifically promised that the US government will support the Nigeria Police in improving its capacity ahead of the 2015 general elections in the country.
On his part, the Ambassador of United Arab Emirate to Nigeria, Mr. Mahmud Mohammad promised to strengthen the existing relationship between the security Forces of his country and that of the Nigeria Police Force.
