The members of the Nasarawa state House of Assembly has today suspended a pro-Governor Al-Makura lawmaker for six month over misconduct. This suspension was made known by the People’s Democratic Party members who had their first seating today after a long recess.
The estranged lawmakers who were conspicuously out of town over threats to their lives since the impeachment saga of 14/07/2014 resolved that the lawmaker elected under the auspices of the All Progressives Congress, Honorable Tanko Tunga breached the country’s constitution by endeavoring to drag away the Assembly mace.
The recent failed impeachment by the state assembly is reported to be the ninth attempt to impeach the governor. The chief judge’s action in setting up a handpicked group to populate the impeachment 7-man panel caused the impeachment action to fail.
For this reason, upon resumption from legislative recess, the Assembly petitioned the chief Judge, Justice Suleiman Dikko for breaching the constitution of the state. The legislators challenged the constitution of the 7-man panel. In particular, they challenged the selection of Mohammed Sabo Keana, ex-Nasarawa state SSG, a card carrying member of the PDP in his Amiri ward in keana Local Government of the state. They also challenged the appointment of Revered Joel Galadima who was a member of the Nasarawa State Christian Pilgrim Welfare Board.
He legislators are said to be gunning for the removal of the chief judge.
It was reliably gathered that the members who relocated to the nation’s capital for barely one month has softened the grounds to enable sack the state Governor. 247ureports.cm gathered that 20 members of the Nasarawa state assembly have submitted a petition to the national Judicial Council over professional breaches. An inside source suspects the C.J may not scale through the petition. “The man is going whether he likes it or not”.
A competent source reveal that the national chairman of the PDP, Adamu Muazu and the secretary to the Government of the federation, Pius Anyim have been approached by the Nasarawa state governor in attempts to withstand another attempt to impeach him. It is believed monies may have exchanged hands.
