A 29-year-old banker, Adeyemi Akinmade was on Monday arraigned in an Ado-Ekiti Chief Magistrates Court for stealing of N459, 060.
The accused, according to the Prosecutor, Superintendent Erima David, was a staff of one of the new generation banks operating in Ado-Ekiti, the Ekiti State capital.
David told the court that, the accused committed the offence on Aug. 15, in one of the banks located along the popular Bank Road, Ado-Ekiti.
The charge sheet reads, “That you, Akinmade Adeyemi on Aug. 15, 2014 at Bank road, Ado-Ekiti in the Ado-Ekiti Magisterial District did steal the sum of N459, 060.
“The sum, being property of the bank, as represented by Operations Manager, one Ebenezer Adeyemi, where you are a staff.”
According to the prosecutor, the offence contravened Section 390(9) of the Criminal Code Cap C16 Vol. 1 Laws of Ekiti State of Nigeria, 2012.
He prayed the court for an adjournment to enable him prepare for the case.
The accused had earlier pleaded not guilty to the one-count charge.
His counsel, Mr Opeyemi Ogunremi prayed the court to grant him bail, promising that a reliable surety would be provided.
The Presiding Chief Magistrate, Idowu Ayenimo granted the accused bail in the sum of N100, 000 and two sureties in like sum.
He said that, one of the sureties must be a civil servant with Ekiti State Civil Service, not below grade level 12 and adjourned the case to Aug. 28 for hearing.
