Native Doctor, 9 Others In Police Net Over Alleged Murder, Armed Robbery

The Ndiegoro Police Division, Aba, Abia State has arrested a native doctor as well as nine other suspects over alleged armed robbery and murder of three persons.

247ureports.com gathered that an armed robbery syndicate has been robbing and killing residents of the Ndiegoro community in Aba.

A cross section of residents who spoke to our correspondent lamented that the armed robbers killed three persons, injured others and carted away property including cash during the raids at three different streets in the community.

They disclosed that a ten-man robbery gang attacked occupants of a building on Iheorji Avenue. The gunmen were said to have shot a man dead and robbed others of cash and other valuables.

A resident of the area who did not want his name on print hinted that the gunmen numbering about eight stormed a house on Mbaitoli Street off Ibere Street and after robbing the occupants, killed a man and wounded his wife and children.

The following night, a group of armed men numbering about nine were said to have invaded No. 90 NEPA Street off Ngwa Road and shot another man dead after robbing the occupants of their valuables.

Worried by the incidence of armed robbery in the area, the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) of Ndiegoro Division, Crescent Mamah and his men swoop into action and nabbed two of the alleged armed robbers on Thursday.

The police team on Saturday also arrested seven other suspects including a native doctor who allegedly prepares charm for the armed robbers. Our correspondent gathered that the native doctor was arrested with a tortoise and some strange objects.

As at the time of filing this report, efforts to get the reaction of the Police Public Relations Officer, Abia State Command, ASP Geoffrey Ogbonna did not yield fruit, but a senior police officer at the Ndiegoro Division who preferred anonymity confirmed the incident, adding that the suspects have made useful confessions which will lead to the arrest of the fleeing members of the gangs.
