Leading People’s Democratic Party (PDP) governorship aspirant in Adamawa State, Gen. Buba Marwa (retd) over the weekend, picked the nomination form for the party’s ticket.
The former Military of Administrator of Lagos State is set to emerge as the preferred candidate of the PDP, following his recent endorsement by delegates across the State. Marwa is a well-respected retired general and former Nigeria’s Ambassador to South-Africa.
Marwa is seen as a strong contender for the September 6, 2014 PDP primary. He is said to have consulted widely before picking his nomination form.
A local politician based in Yola, Solomon Gaya, said “Marwa will be a good governor for Adamawa State. His experience as a former governor of Lagos State where he performed very well will count for us.
“Our state, which is currently challenged by insecurity and under emergency requires the leadership of someone like Marwa who knows the terrain very well as a former governor of Old Borno State (with Yobe State)”.
“We can’t afford to get it wrong this time as a people,” Gaya added.
Marwa has promised to salvage Adamawa State from years of ruin and return good governance to the people. He recently joined Twitter @TeamBubaMarwa to allow his numerous supporters outside Adamawa State and Nigeria, monitor his programmes.
Others, who have purchased their nomination form include, the Acting Governor, Umaru Fintiri, a former Executive Secretary of the Universal Basic Education Commission, Dr. Ahmed Mohammed Modibbo and the immediate past Special Adviser on Political Matters to the President, Ahmed Gulak.
