Information available to 247ureports.com obtained from the state government of Nasarawa State indicates that the impeachment motion moved by the Nasarawa State legislators today [Monday July 14] may have been served the state governor by the clerk of the state assembly. This is according to the chief press secretary to the Nasarawa State governor, Iliyasu Yakubu.
The late morning hours of Monday July 14, 2014 saw the state assembly of Nasarawa State move the motion to serve impeachment notice on the executive governor of Nasarawa State, Malam Al Makura. The speaker of the state legislator following the passage of the motion had instructed the clerk of the state assembly to proceed with service of impeachment on the governor.
Interestingly, while the impeachment matters were being discussed at the state assembly, the governor was busy receiving the President of the federal republic of Nigeria who had come on a working visit to Nasarawa State to commission a few projects in the state. The Chief Press Secretary [CPS] to the state governor told 247ureports.com that they only returned from the presidential commissioning at about 9pm – to hear the rumor of impeachment.
“We do not know anything about this impeachment” said the CPS who went on to add that the governor has yet to be official brief on the impeachment.
A source from the state assembly however revealed that the governor will be served before Thursday July 17, 2014.
