APGA Women For Good Governance
29th July 2014
Press Release
The All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) Women for Good Governance, Anambra State Chapter congratulates Governor Willie Obiano on his resounding election victory at the Court of Appeal, Enugu Division. His victory is sweet music to all lovers of democracy in Nigeria and confirms yet again that he won the November 16, 2013, gubernatorial poll in Anambra State.
We commend Governor Obiano for the good job he is doing in the state, reaffirming that APGA has come to stay in Anambra State and beyond. It is obvious that APGA is a party to beat in Anambra and will continue to rule the State for decades.
We commend the National Chairman of the party, Chief Victor Umeh for providing necessary leadership that enabled APGA to win Anambra governorship elections since 2003. In view of Umeh’s dynamic leadership of our great party, we support him for Anambra Central Senatorial seat to replace Dr. Chris Ngige who abdicated his duties to the zone.
APGA Women for Good Governance strongly condemns Ngige’s uncouth reference of APGA members as blind people and playing traders politics. It is unfortunate that Chris Ngige will condescend so low to attack the ruling party in Anambra State.
As women of substance, grace and dignity, we shall not join issues with a political Lilliputian wandering aimlessly in political wilderness, clutching a submerged party in the South East and lily-livered to face APGA in both governorship supplementary election of 30th November 2013 and the subsequent Local Government polls which his party boycotted.
Ngige’s bourgeois attitude and elitist politics of patronage alienated him from the masses who once adored him, especially his Anambra Central Senatorial zone he abandoned in the Senate pursuit of the wide goose chase of Anambra governorship seat. We have no doubt that he is suffering from delusions of grandeur after a stint at the Government House in May 2003 with a stolen mandate which APGA recovered in March 2006.
We urge politicians to imbibe issue-based politics and desist from making incendiary statements that will further jeopardize our frail democracy.
AWGG will continue to promote good governance and will resist political buccaneers masquerading as democrats in Nigeria. Today, women have risen to the task of nation building and good governance.
