New information obtained from the State governor, Malam Tanko Al Makura points to the former governor of Nasarawa State, Malam Aliyu Doma as the mastermind behind his impeachment, and not the president of the federal republic of Nigeria, Dr. Goodluck Jonathan.
The embattled governor of Nasarawa State, Malam Tanko Al Makura made the statement publicly today [Tuesday] in Lafia, the State Capital as he addressed a group of supporters who had come to pay him sallah homage at the presidential lodge. In his statement, he pointed direct blame to the Peoples Democratic Party [PDP] in Nasarawa and the Chairman of the PDP in Nasarawa State, Yunana Iliya. He extricated the name of the President of the federation away from the impeachment citing that he had held a meeting with the President and that the President had assured him of his innocence.
In talking with the PDP chairman of the State, he was quick to toss the allegation by the Governor as the allegations of a drowning man. He told 247ureports.com that he was not the one responsible for stealing Nasarawa State money. He went to add that he was to be blamed “because I asked him to steal the government money of the state“.
Governor Tanko Al Makura has been accused of stealing N4billion of Nasarawa State funds through the Universal Basic Education Board.
GEJ Alone can not fight corruption in all the states of the federation. if one of the constitutional responsibility for the legislature in the state is also to provide oversight, then it stands to reason that they are doing just that. The allegations needs to be proven. until then he is presumed innocent until otherwise proven. This idea of impeachment is a device to checkmate corruption and other serious misdemeanors in the polity or are they suggesting the panel is just a rubber stamp? the governor has stated he will defend himself, can he be found guilty in the absence of evidence to the contrary? We politicize everything in this country. A clear conscious fears no accusation. if a man dies he is killed by someone probably his political opponents even if the dies from natural courses. Allow the man to go through the process and come out victorious if he is clean. Oh you are asking me if I live in the country? of course I do. If legislators cant do their job you will be the first to accuse them as rubber stamp in the hands the the executive arm. if they act they are pushed. Haba!
