Despite the zoning of the governorship position to Abia South senatorial zone in 2015, a group, Nzuko Ohanaeze Ndi Ngwa has said that it is not worried by the governorship ambition of ex-Army Staff, Azubuike Ihejirika as well as the proprietor of Master Energy Group, Dr. Uchechukwu Ogah.
Coordinator of the group, Barr. St. Moses Ogbonna who disclosed this while addressing newsmen in Aba said Nzuko Ohanaeze Ndi Ngwa is not bothered about whether Ihejirika and Ogah who hails from Isuikwuato LGA or other aspirants from Old Bende zone would be contesting for the governorship position in 2015 or not.
“If you watch the people who are contesting for governor from Isuikwuato and other LGAs of Old Bende zone, they are people who are new to the political field. Have you seen any old politician or those who are familiar with the politics of the state contesting for governor? They cannot do that because they know that for the sake of equity and the peaceful coexistence of Abia state, 2015 is for Abia South zone.
“We are not bothered over these new brooms and money bags like Ihejirika and Uche Ogah from Isuikwuato LGA contesting for governor because they are only trying to familiarize themselves with the political terrain. They are learning the ropes; perhaps to try their luck after the Abia South zone zone might have had their turn,” he said.
Ogbonna who is also a chieftain of the PDP commended Gov. Theodore Orji for insisting that power would shift to Abia South zone in 2015 and called political leader from the Abia North and Abia Central zones zone to support the their Abia South brothers produce a governor in 2015.
“Nzuko Ohanaeze Ndi Ngwa is fully prepared to support any bonafide Abia South candidate who the governor may anoint in 2015. We are calling on the governorship aspirants and political leaders from Abia South zone to unite and assist Gov. Orji and the PDP actualize the dream of producing a governor from the zone.
“We are grateful to Gov. Theodore Orji who as the leader of the party in the state has said it several fora that power would shift to Ukwa/ Ngwa in 2015. We will surely support any aspirant he anoints to succeed him.”
