Imo Initiative is writing to call for the immediate release of Citizen Ikenna Samuelson Iwuoha who is being held by the Imo State police command Owerri. Iwuoha was arrested on June 3, 2014 after gun men made attempt at his life. The gunmen killed one person in the process. When the gunmen opened fire people scampered to safety and some persons ran into his apartment. The person murdered was not murdered in Samuelson’s apartment.The police are torturing Iwuoha’s wife trying to force her to accept that the killing was committed in Iwuoha’s appartment.
The police in collaboration with the Speaker of Imo State House of Assembly are plotting to charge Iwuoha for murder so as to silence him. Imo initiative is pointing fingers at the Speaker who has severally threatened to deal with Samuelson. Iwuoha is a popular social activist in Imo State known for criticising corrupt politicians. He has severally criticized the Imo Speaker for corruption and threats to his life were made.
How can an assasination attempt be turned to murder charge against the victim.Why is the police eager to pin something on Iwuoha. Iwuoha has no criminal history . For some time now he has been crying out that his life was in danger and that the Speaker of Imo State House of Assembly and some aides to the speaker have threatened to kill him. The police never investigated his cry of threats to his life. 15 other persons are held alongside Iwuoha including his wife.
Iwuoha is not a cultist. He is an activist. Imo Initiative wish to make it clear that whatever is happening to Samuelson Iwuohs is not as a result of cult activity. The people he was opening their illicit deals in Imo State government should be held responsible if anything happens to Samuelson. We are of the view that human right lawyers should move in now and make sure that the master minders of his incarceration did not succeed in whatever plans they have with the police
release Iwuoha immediately!
