“We made many representations both in paper works and visits to the office of the former governor, we sought the assistance of the International Communities including World Bank, all in effort to save us from the problem, non of our appeals have yielded any fruit and today, we are at the mercies of God and His Excellency, Chief Willie Maduabuchukwu Obiano (Akpokudike Aguleri.)” He said.

 

Meanwhile, youths and landlords of the layout last Monday staged a peaceful demonstration as well as taking reporters round the erosion sites with placards aimed at drumming their ill-feelings cum neglect of the Odunke Layout by the past administrations in Anambra State into the listening ears of Governor Obiano. Some of the placards inscribed; ‘our children no longer go to school during rainy season, flood kills our brothers and children, people in Odunke Layout no loner live in their homes, our amiable Governor Obiano please come to our rescue’ among others are part of event mapped out to draw the attention of the government and the international communities into the already drowning Oduke Layout.

In their separate contributions, Chief Dickson Orunwa, Chief Ude Orji and Bro. Emmanuel Ezidigwe said apart from the forceful ejection of over 300 tenants and landlords out of the layout by the disaster, property worth over 300 million naira have been lost by the entire landlords and tenants. They said the erosion and the flood channeled to their layout by Consolidated Construction Company, CCC is worst than the Boko Haram sect, calling on Governor Willie Obiano to come to their aide.
