A faction of the All Progressive Congress (APC) in Abia State known as the APC Integrity Group has accused its Interim National Vice Chairman, South East, Dr. Nyerere Anyim and a former PDP governorship aspirant, Chief Ikechi Emenike of plotting to hijack the party in the state.
In an interview with journalists at the end of it meeting in Aba, Leader of the group and former National Financial Secretary of the defunct ACN, Barr. Ndionyenma Nwankwo alleged that rather than working harmoniously with the members of the defunct legacy parties of ACN, CPC and ANPP who are the foundation on which the APC was formed, the other two groups led by Anyim and Emenike have resorted to attempts to hijack the party.
He further alleged that the duo are being sponsored by the ruling PDP in the state to disorganize the APC ahead of 2015 general elections, stressing that his group would resist any move to hijack and destroy APC in Abia.
The group which calls itself as the authentic APC in Abia state insisted that the party has no executive committee at any level in Abia state following disagreements which led to the non-conduct of congresses in the state and warned those parading themselves as such to desist from such acts.
The group further assured its members of full participation in the forthcoming national convention of the party basically as the authentic APC
in Abia.
“As the legitimate and foundation members of APC in Abia state, we wish to state categorically that congresses never held in Abia which the national leadership of our party duly acknowledged. We are still expecting the conduct of fresh congresses where all stakeholders and our teeming members will democratically participate to elect officials that will steer the affairs of APC in our dear state.
“While we maintain our earlier stand to treat everyone as equal joiners, Abia APC Integrity Group will definitely stop at nothing to resist any attempt by some people sponsored by the ruling Peoples Democratic Party( PDP) to destroy the party.”
