2014 Olympic Day: Engage In Sporting Activities For Healthy Living – Madumere

Joining millions of other people of the world in celebration of Olympic Day, Deputy Governor of Imo State, Prince Eze Madumere has called on Nigerians to embrace healthy living by engaging by creating time for sporting activities.

 

Speaking to the teaming youths of Imo State, athletes and sports administrators who had throng Dan Anyiam Stadium to grace the day; Prince Madumere hammered on the need for healthy attitude, engagement for a discipline mind and healthy body.

 

He told the people never to lose sight of Olympic values where are friendship, excellence and respect. He expressed the need to reinvigorate those cultural and traditional activities, which he said are sporting activities which we engage with fun. he averred that realizing the importance of sporting activities and its positive consequences, Governor Okorocha in his wisdom initiated ‘Walk for Life’ programme which comes up every month.

Flagging off the event at Dan Anyiam Stadium, he saluted those he called Nigerian Legends whose foot prints have remained a source of encouragement to the younger generation. He used the opportunity to encourage those in sports as a career path to give their best for it is the easiest way to earn a living and fame.

Imo number two citizen said sports remain a uniting force in Nigeria as it has sustained the unity of the country. Predicting that Nigeria will win Bosnia, he called on the youths to take to sports as some of them could just discover their talents, which might after all place them where they aspire for the future.

The high point of the event was the hand over of IOC flag to Prince Madumere and participating during walk out and road work from Dan Anyiam Stadium down weatheral road.
